Stirling FC has started its 2017 Series Futsal Australia campaign with a hard-fought win over West Australian rivals Fremantle at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre today.
Fremantle scored the first goal and held sway for the opening stanza, but a strong Stirling soon bounced back to end the first half with a 4-2 lead.
More goals to Fremantle ensured a close match, however, led by Ella Mastrantonio who scored three goals in teh match, Stirling was too strong, eventually taking an 8-5 win.
The loss for Fremantle is its second in as many matches, leaving the West Aussie squad with plenty of pressure ahead of its final four group stage matches.
