MON – J.Oana 3, J.Zomaya 3, N.Ormond
With Doncaster coming off the back of a huge win against Preston last week spirits were high however with the loss of keeper Edwin Tang, Monash were able to beat the Doncaster defence. James Oana blew the game out in the first half with a hat trick to set Monash up with a comfortable buffer to 3rd place.

With Melbourne Uni looking to avoid a relegation playoff a win against 5th placed Footscray was a must. Uni started well going into halftime with a 3-1 lead. However Footscray stepped up the pressure and a rattled Melbourne uni began making mistakes letting Footscray back in to eventually win.

Vermont Futsal Club (4th) 2-2 (8th) Toorak Futsal Club

With Doncaster falling to Monash all signs led to Vermont taking 3rd spot as the came up against last placed Toorak. It was Toorak who put up a strong fight however as the went in at halftime only 2-1 down with a good defensive effort. Vermont were threatened and Toorak were rewarded as Thedyardi bagged his second. In the last minute Uy Seng spurned a brilliant chance to win but Toorak finally managed to earn their first points of the season!

Preston Futsal Club (1st) 4-3 (7th) South Melbourne Futsal Club
PRE – N.Atzarakis 2, D.Romas, F.Karatzas
SM – S.Hosseini 2, S.Mander
After losing to Doncaster last week Preston were back for their second shot at sealing the title. However Preston looked nervous as they struggled to string together play and South Melbourne capitalised. South Melbourne went in at halftime up 2-1 and scoring with 6 minutes to go in the second half things looked dire for Preston. But one of the most remarkable comebacks ensued as Atzarakis brought it back to 2-3 before scoring again with 1 minute left to tie it at 3-3. Preston were desperate with the crowd willing them on and they received a free kick with 15 seconds remaining. The ball in a scrap eventually fell to none other than their star goalkeeper Fodi Karatzas who poked the ball home with 7 seconds left to seal the title for Preston in the most of scenes.
Congratulations to FC Preston on claiming the 2016 State League One title and making it back into the State League Championship!
