2016 State League One Round 20 – Result:

Monash Futsal Club (2nd) 10-1 (7th) South Melbourne FC

MON – M.Biles 3, J.Zomaya 3, R.Main 2, S.Carr, B.Atik
SM – R.Main (OG)

Monash continued on their merry way playing some of the most entertaining futsal in the centre. With the pressure off locked into 2nd spot Monash brought in new players Rhys Main and swapped goalkeeper Bilal Atik with top goalscorer Nic Ormond with the results paying off. South Melbourne who were resigned to their fate of having to play off to keep their spot in the league will be left licking their wounds needing to regroup before the playoff.

2016 State League One Round 20 – Result:

Melbourne University Futsal Club (6th) 6-4 (8th) Toorak Futsal Club

MU – S.Lally 3, L.Jester, E.Tasker, M.Antachew
TOO – J.Ruslim 2, J.Tanean, I.Lodra

In a battle that saw us at the bottom of the table Toorak came in ready to give Melbourne Uni a big challenge. In a close first half it was Uni who managed to sneak in ahead with the scores at 4-3. After Lodra scored first in the second half Toorak could smell blood, however the experience of Melbourne Uni prevailed with big man Sean Lally scoring the last 2 goals to cap off the win.

2016 State League One Round 20 – Result:

Preston Futsal Club (1st) 3-6 (4th) Vermont Futsal Club

PRE – D.Lambombarda 2, M.Mancuso
VER – H.Leung 3, J.Lang 2, S.Tran

Much like Monash, Preston decided to experiment with their squad given the safety of their position which saw the introduction of Marcus Mancuso and even manager Christian Gravias. Vermont was desperate for the win to keep their hopes of 3rd place alive and punished the weakened Preston side. With goalscorers Hans Leung and Joe Lang managing to finish their chances past the force that is Fodi Karatzas in goals Vermont were able to seal an important 3 goal win over the already crowned champions.

2016 State League One Round 20 – Result:

FC Footscray (Futsal Club) (4th) 4-3 (3rd) Doncaster Futsal Club

FOOT – Meh.Chowdhury 2, Min.Chowdhury, YL.Lan (OG)
DON – W.Ong 2, J.Koh

League One saved its best for last in round 20 as 3rd placed Doncaster came up against 4th placed Footscray. With a 3 point lead a win for Doncaster would take them clear of Vermont and Footscray. Footscray were hungry and with a crowd behind them took the game to Doncaster. The first period ended locked at 2-2 after Mehraz Chowdhury finished a penalty with the last kick of the half. Footscray were pumped and kept coming at Doncaster in a riveting clash and eventually would run out 1 goal winners leaving all Doncaster, Footscray and Vermont tied on 33 points with 1 game left.
