2016 State League Two Round 21 – Result:

FC Essendon (Futsal Club) (5th) 5-9 (6th) FC Geelong – Futsal Club

ESS – A.Jerrems, D.Pinto, A.Lay, J.Ngo, M.Dague (OG)
GEE – J.Delio 5, B.Punch 3, L.Kfeilati

After spoiling Hampton’s shot to wrap up the title last week Geelong was in good form and full of energy. Opponents Essendon had a large squad but found themselves down at the break 3 goals to 2. The second period had Geelong step up their game as both Punch and Delio combined brilliantly to tear the game open for Geelong. With 3 wins in the final 4 games of the season Geelong once again finish strongly and look positive going into season 2016/17.

2016 State League Two Round 21 – Result:

Coburg Athletic Futsal Club (3rd) 1-6 (4th) RMIT Futsal Club

COB – C.Velluto
RMIT – KX.San 2, R.McPhillips, L.Ryan, J.Marcos, C.Magno

Following their loss to Essendon last week Coburg were resigned to finishing in 3rd place and looked to trial some new players going into the playoffs. RMIT also locked into 4th brought in some new faces and it was them who clicked first. Cruising in at halftime with a 3 goal lead RMIT really had picked up their game from previous weeks. The second half was much the same as RMIT really felt like they were finding their old form as a real team effort got them over the line by a comfortable 5 goal margin.

2016 State League Two Round 21 – Result:

Hampton Street Football Club (1st) 8-1 (2nd) FC Prahran (Futsal Club)

HAM – D.Grecea 4, R.Langerak 2, A.Sahati, G.Rowley
PRA – D.Loriga

With the whole season going down to one final game all was on the line as the winner would take home the title, the loser a consilation prize of a playoff. In a tense first half it was Hampton that struck first going up 2-0 within 10 minutes. Prahran managed to get themselves on the scoresheet but the lead remained 2 goals at half time. Once the second half began the floodgates opened as Hampton put their stamp on the game with key players Ruben Langerak and none other than Daniel Grecea pulling the strings. Hampton piled on the goals as a dejected Prahran could do nothing to stop the goals leaking in at the back. For Hampton tonight was a real show of strength, proving that they were the deserved champions as they took the game with both hands and didn’t let go. For Prahran a playoff against South Melbourne awaits them as they aim for promotion to State League One. Hampton, the champions, will enjoy the rest as they can celebrate their victory and prepare for next season against tougher opposition in the higher leagues.

2016 State League Two Round 21 – Result:

Croydon Futsal club (8th) 4-8 (7th) Richmond Futsal Club

CROY – P.Figueroa 4
RICH – T.Abe 4, D.Langdale, D.Lim, K.Piani, P.Figueroa (OG)

Having already witnessed the battle for top spot, the last game of the night was the battle to stay up as the bottom two placed teams battled out to avoid the drop. With Croydon having a goal difference 4 worse than Richmond they needed to win to stay up while Richmond only required the point. Starting a player short Croydon were punished early on as Richmond raced ahead in the first half and although Croydon managed to stabilise a first half hat trick from Takahiro Abe put Richmond up 4-2 at the break. The captain, heart and soul of Croydon Paul Figueroa did not leave everything on the court as he willed his team to stay up, however his effort was in vain as Richmond won the second half by the same scoreline. 8-4 to Richmond meant that they would come up against a new face in their bid to stay in League Two, whilst for Croydon the loss means they are relegated out of the Elite Leagues.

Man of the Match – Takahiro Abe (FC Richmond)
