The Thomastown Futsal Stadium is now the home of every Series Futsal Victoria match, the commission has announced today.

All mens, womens and youth Series Futsal matches will be played at the world-class stadium in Melbourne’s north.

Mens matches will take place every Sunday, starting at an earlier time of 2pm, while the womens and youth leagues remain at Thomastown each Wednesday evening.

All games will be live streamed, however, a greater emphasis will be placed on the ‘in-game experience,’ with live music and fan interactions to encourage more spectators to watch the games live.

To cater for the increased interest at Thomastown, a new grandstand will be erected next to the main court, with seating for up to 500 patrons.

Series Futsal CEO Peter Parthimos says that having all matches at the one venue offers a consistent approach that is aimed at encouraging more people to see the best players compete.

“This next season of Series Futsal Victoria is all about the fans,” Parthimos told SeriesFutsal.com.

“We want as many people as possible to come and witness the games and soak up the atmosphere.

“Already, we have a good number of people coming to watch our games. Some people travel from the opposite side of Melbourne to be involved, so with some added changes to the format, plus more dynamic game rules, we believe that we will have a great package.”

Parthimos says that the success of the Futsal Oz Live event has inspired him to put a greater emphasis on entertainment.

“Futsal Oz Live was the best example of the future of our game,” he said.

“Everyone was there for the star players, and they delivered on the court, but that event was more than futsal – it was an entertainment package. That is what we want to replicate week in and week out at Thomastown.”

In years gone by, every Series Futsal match was played at Brunswick. When Futsal Oz began to open more stadiums, the top league would play rounds at the other venues, but to offer consistency to fans, the decision was made to base all Series Futsal matches at the one stadium.

The Brunswick Futsal Stadium will continue to host the lower elite-level leagues.
