The first game of the night saw Doncaster all over South Melbourne, scoring 4 goals to none in the opening ten minutes of the game. Two goals to returning player Deon Waszaj lifted the spirits of the South Melbourne squad, before another late Doncaster goal saw the first half ending 5-2 in their favour. State League One Round 2 – Result:

Vermont Futsal Club 1-4 FC Footscray (Futsal Club)

VER – A.Dao
FOOT – A.Giansanti 2, Z.Ilahee, M.Chowdhury

Coming away from a tight loss last week, Footscray looked the goods early in the game, strong defending play from both teams meant that chances were limited in the first half. It was Footscray’s new recruit Andrea Giansanti and consistent goalscorer Minhaz Chowdhury who managed to find holes in the Vermont defence, sending their team into half time with a 2-0 lead. An early third goal to Footscray put the pressure on Vermont, who responded by increasing the games tempo and going on the attack. Much of the second half was spent in Vermont’s possession and saw a relentless attack on goal, Footscray however were up to the challenge and fended off all but one offence, managing to score another of their own on the rebound, finishing the game 4-1. Both teams now find themselves at one win and one loss for the season.

State League One Round 2 – Result:

Mt. Evelyn Futsal Club 4-1 FC Melbourne Athletic
MTE – S.Hoeung Ung, P.Ung, M.Ayayi, G.Sarpa
MELB – M.Rojas

League One’s last game of the night saw the two teams relegated from the State League at the end of last season facing off and hungry to score themselves a win in their new league. A physical contest had neither team willing to give up any ground in the first half, the only goal coming off the boot of Mt. Evelyn’s Gabriel Sarpa. Tensions rose in the second half, each team accruing a five-foul warning. Tempers flared and an exchange of words saw both Mt. Evelyn’s Sok Hoeun Ung and Melbourne’s Ed Evans sent from the field. When the dust settled at the end of the game, Mt. Evelyn had proven too strong for Melbourne, coming away from the heated exchange with a 4-1 lead and all three points.
