An explosive first half kicked off tonight’s league two schedule. Toorak had all the moves, with five individual goal scorers finding the back of the net a total of 7 times in the first 18 minutes. However the same agression that enabled such a high goal count, also resulted in an abundance of fouls, giving Prahran two 10-yard penalties and keeping them in the game. Going into the break trailing 7-2 Prahran came into the second half determined to bring back the margin. A well played-out half saw opportunities missed for both sides. The match ending with Toorak holding out to find their second win in as many weeks.

Both teams were looking for their first win of the season in tonight’s game. With the three points on the line, each team defended well in a grinding first half which ended with an even 1-1 scoreline. The second half continued in similar fashion until RMIT was able to find the netting with a goal from Roberto Serrano. The game opened up and each team had their turns on the offensive. But it was RMIT that managed to capitalise on their chances, and come away from the game as 4-2 victors, securing their first points for the season.

Tullamarine Futsal Club 4-3 FC Geelong – Futsal Club

Gee – J.Crocaris, A.Koronankos, C.Williams

Geelong hoped to assert their dominance as the more experienced team early on in the game, managing to pull together a 3-1 lead going into the half-time break. The tension was palpable as both teams reentered the pitch, neither willing to concede any further goals. A stalemate ensued as the teams slugged it out, fighting for the opening goal of the half. It was Tullamarine who found the opening first, swinging the momentum in their favour. Another quick goal levelled the scores. Sensing the game slipping away from them, Geelong redoubled their efforts and wrestled back control of the game but were unable to convert. It was a late goal from Tullamarine’s Trent Edwards that finally sealed the deal for the newcomers, securing their undefeated record in the league.

FC Essendon (Futsal Club) 5-4 Coburg Athletic Futsal Club

The final match of the night between Essendon and Coburg was a tight affair, with both teams battling to secure their first win of the season. Going into half time it was Essendon on top with a 2-1 lead, after the break, they increased advantage, piling on two more goals before Coburg could react with one of their own. A goal with three to Essendon’s minutes left, put the score to 5-2 and out of Coburg’s reach. Despite the deficit, Coburg kept fighting, scoring two goals in the last two minutes, leaving the scoreline at a respectable 5-4.
