History will be made at the Thomastown Futsal Oz Stadium this evening, when Carlton’s two womens teams go head-to-head in their Round 4 clash.

Carlton is the first club to field two womens teams at Series Futsal level, following on from Fitzroy and Carlton which both have Youth teams playing in the same Series Futsal competition.

After starting the season with just one womens team, Carlton decided to create a second team after an influx of womens players keen to train and play for the club.

Carlton ‘White’ is the club’s original team, while Carlton ‘Blue’ is the newly-formed squad.

Carlton senior player and club manager Chaaban Rajab says that he is pleased with the number of womens players involved, and is looking forward to their match-up tonight.

“As a club, we’re always looking to grow and have been lucky enough to have plenty of women that are committed to learning,” he told SeriesFutsal.com.

“We asked if we could enter a second team and were given approval, so the second team was born.

“At the moment the white team is the ‘A-Team’ but our goal by the end of the season is to have two evenly matched and competitive teams.

“Tonight, Carlton White should win the game, however you should expect a fight from Blue.”
