2016/17 State League Two – Round 7:

FC Wollert (6th) 4-0 (4th) FC Essendon (Futsal Club)

WOL – D.Labombarda 2, L.Tsolakis, J.Sismanes

The first game of the round saw an ever improving Wollert take on Essendon who had experienced some mixed form. In a tight first half neither team was able to make the most of their chances with Damian Labombarda breaking the deadlock with a goal which held the scoreline until the break. An early goal for Leon Tsolakis saw Wollert double their lead before a period in which Michael Christodoulou had a great period in goals to not concede a goal back. Wollert added two goals late on in the game and held out to record their biggest win and the first clean sheet in the league this season.

2016/17 State League Two – Round 7:

Tullamarine FC (3rd) 1-8 (1st) RMIT FC

RMIT – R.Serrano 3, Y.Yamauchi 2, A.Logozzo, V.Marino, R.Reis

With a 3 way battle for top spot going on the result of this game would be important as a win could give breathing space at the top. RMIT had captain Richard McPhillips on the sidelines but were affected not as he directed his team to an early lead. Second gamer Nam Pham scoring for Tullamarine but it was up the other end the goals were being peppered with Roberto Serrano getting 2 in the half. Leading 4-1 at the break RMIT did not let up in the second period as the whole team continued their great team play scoring numerous fantastic goals. Once again Tullamarine struggled against a top team after losing 5-1 to Toorak earlier in the season. For RMIT it was a clinical performance which puts them in great stead losing only 1 game after now playing each team.

Coburg Athletic Futsal Club (5th) 3-4 (2nd) Toorak Futsal Club

COB – N.Amanatidis 2, C.Velluto
TOO – I.Lodra 3, K.Uy Seng

After Tullamarine fell to RMIT Toorak had the chance to join the redbacks at the top while Coburg needed a win to not fall too far behind the front runners. With both teams sporting healthy squads it was Toorak who were able to get ahead thanks to goals from Lodra and Uy Seng as they took the slightest of leads into the break. Coburg fought back in the second half thanks to goals from Velluto and Amanatidis as the game was set at 3-3 with 10 minutes remaining. Both teams had chances to grab the lead but it took the man of the moment Ivan Lodra sealed his hat trick with the winning goal to take Toorak level with RMIT at the top.

2016/17 State League Two – Round 7:

North Melbourne Futsal Club (8th) 1-3 (7th) FC Prahran (Futsal Club)

NM – A.Koronakos
PRA – N.Tahsin 2, L.De Fazio

As the bottom two teams faced off it was a big chance for Prahran and North Melbourne to claim points to jump off foot of the table. Prahran started stronger as Naqeeb Tahsin was the only player to score in the first period as he put two goals past Jordan Koutsoukos in a game where both teams were better at the back then up front. In the second half the game got heated as both teams were accumulating fouls, a goal to Koronakos only made things tighter as the game was threatening to snap. A goal from Luca De Fazio sealed the game for Prahran as they got a much needed win while North Melbourne sit dead last in a disappointing start to the season so far.
