Metropolitan hopeful of repeating history

Metropolitan FC is hoping that history will repeat itself on the eve of a must-win match for the struggling club.

After five games, Metropolitan currently sits winless at the bottom of the table, with this Sunday’s match against Fitzroy set to be a vital fixture.

But perhaps, history could assist Metropolitan. Last year, Metropolitan was in a similar form slump and like this season, was on the edge of relegation. That all turned around, though, with a gutsy win over Fitzroy FC.

That win kick started a reversal of form that, ultimately, saw them avoid relegation.

Team captain and long-standing Series Futsal player Alija Redzepovic hopes that history will repeat against Fitzroy.

“We haven’t had the best of starts due to different players missing each week,” Redzepovic told SeriesFutsal.com.

“Given the quality of our squad, I am confident our first win is just around the corner.

“We have the quality of players, no doubt about that. It just a matter of players being available week in, week out. That has been an issue for us.

“Last season against Fitzroy was our turning point, so I don’t see why we can’t do the same against them this weekend.”

Metropolitan and Fitzroy will kick-off at 4:05pm at the Thomastown Futsal Oz Stadium.
