Pascoe Vale: Hume win doesn’t guarantee 10th title

Pascoe Vale captain Andre Caro says that his team’s undefeated start to the 2016/17 Series Futsal Victoria premiership is no guarantee of a record-breaking 10th title this season.

Reigning champs Pascoe Vale defeated Hume FC 4-1 in a tightly-fought contest at Thomastown last Sunday.

The win ensured that Pascoe Vale is the only team to get through the first third of the season without loss.

While Caro is happy with the win, he has refused to start talking about winning the team’s chances to winning a record 10th Series Futsal title.

“We work one game at a time,” he said.

“Our goal is to always win the title, however, the next step is to beat Ashburton this week. That is the focus.

“But it is very good to stay on top of the ladder.

“We lost to Hume the last three times we played, so we didn’t want to lose again.

“The game itself went well. Both teams had chances in the first half. They hit the bar a couple of times, and we had some one-on-one situations but couldn’t convert.

“Overall, we kept our shape and defensive structure the whole game. The game plan, which I won’t go into detail, worked amazingly.”

Pascoe Vale takes on Ashburton at 4:05pm this Sunday.
