FC Carlton Heart 2-2 (1-0 Penalties) Pascoe Vale FC

CARL – K.Foster & R.Davies
PVFC – P.Ribas & E.Parthimos

First up we saw the game of the night as third placed Carlton faced fourth placed Pascoe Vale in what is always a close encounter. Early on some sloppy defending from Pascoe Vale saw Katie Foster left alone in the area and she made no mistake with her finish to give the Heart the lead. Pascoe responded with Priscilla Ribas finding the net to restore parody, before the Lions took the lead through Evangelia Parthimos who was left with too much time and space close to goal. Carlton would again draw level as a classy nutmeg from Rebecca Davies saw her beat her player before tucking it away to ensure the scores were level at the half time break.

The second half was quite an even affair with neither side wanting to concede it was a more conservative and defensive half with neither side committing too many players forward and ultimately the half went goal-less as we headed for a penalty shootout. The penalties went the full length with both sides striking three times, but only Katie Foster of Carlton found the net which proved the difference as the Heart took home a crucial three points.
