Recap
The prime time match up of Round 10 saw Hume take on Pascoe Vale, the Black Army looking emulate their performance against the league leaders earlier in the season, when they won in Mt. Evelyn. A very tense and cagey opening half saw just the won goal scored as both teams looked solid defensively. It would take a red card being shown to Hume captain Nejdett Sahin to give Pascoe Vale the advantage they needed to score. They capitalised on their man advantage working the ball around well before Lucas Kruel side stepped his man and slotted his shot into the top left corner. That was all she wrote for the first half, however, as Pascoe remained a goal to the good at the break.
The second half opened up much more as Pascoe started to really stretch the Hume defence. Joao Da Silva was found at the back post early in the second period and he poked home his effort to double Pascoe’s advantage. Andre Caro then stepped up to lash home and effort from just outside the area, before youngster Jesse Papalia was teed up to finish to make it four. Some quick passing and movement from Pascoe resulted in Kruel teeing up Caro for his second and his team’s fifth, to put the game beyond any doubt. Consolation goals for new signing Jason Barrientos and Tony Saric were added on in the dying moments for Hume, but Pascoe would run out easy winners in the end.
