The second game of the night saw a battle of top and bottom as top of the table Pascoe faced off against a struggling, last placed Carlton side. It was Carlton, however, who got on the front foot early as Ernie Simsek was found to tap home to put Carlton infront. Simsek soon doubled the Heart’s advantage as he finihsed on the turn into the bottom right corner, to put Carlton two up and have Pascoe reeling. The men in black and white stuck to their guns though, and eventually managed to find the score sheet though Andre Caro as he finished from a tight angle. Rodrigo Covarrubias then was found for a tap in to level the scores before Dylan Govic put it past Szabo at his near post to restore the Heart lead. However, with less than a minute left in the first half Sofiane Soufi would drill home a free kick to have the scores level at the break.

The second half was a half of two divided as Pascoe came out of the blocks firing, before Carlton came home strong. Caro finished from a free kick to open the second half scoring, before he completed his hatrick to have Pascoe two in front. Victor Morodri then put Pascoe up six goals to three to leave Carlton with a very slim chance of salvaging anything from the match. To their credit, however, they never gave up, and for the last 10 minutes of the match they dominated the game having a lot of possession and creating chances. but could only find the one goal through Govic, despite hitting the woodwork several times. A valiant effort from the Heart which they will hope will spark better performances in the future. As for Pascoe, their title march steadily rolls along.
