Recap
After the first round of the seasons only two goals separated Fitzroy and Hume who sat in third and fourth spots on the ladder respectively. This game would decide who remained undefeated and who added a loss to their seasons record. The perfect set up for a great futsal game.
Hume looked the hotter team in the opening minutes of the game as they took advantage of some poor goal keeping from Fitzroy’s star keeper Aaron Yu. They opened the scoring early and quickly followed up with a second goal to get out to an early two goals to nil lead. Fitzroy rallied late in the half and a classic Scott Rogan goal brought the half time lead to just one goal.
The second half was a heated affair as both teams failed to find the back of the net; not for a want of trying but from some top quality goal keeping as young gun keeper Rahmaan Balla managed to reject every opportunity that Fitzroy created. At the other end Aaron Yu was putting on a goal keeping masterclass of his own with five minutes of sensational keeping. Finally Hume managed to breakthrough for their third goal. This proved too much to overcome as Hume ran out winners by two goals.
The low scoring affair led to the goal difference of both teams being largely unaffected. The major outcome of the game is Fitzroy will go into the week off with a loss next to their name whilst Hume will be happy to have themselves two wins to open their 2016/2017 season.
