The second semi final saw Western Wolves take on Fitzroy in what had become a rivalry of late. After a cagey opening the Wolves found their groove despite missing some key players the Wolves went on a devastating run which saw them hit home four unanswered goals to be leading 4-0. A penalty late in the half saw Fitzroy claw one back before the break to trail 4-1 at half time. Fitzroy turned to the fifth man tactic in the second half and despite scoring goals conceded a lot more and fell 11-6 as the Wolves proved too strong running into the final with a massive victory.
