Balwyn are fighting to keep a grasp on second place on the table with Hume and Brunswick breathing down their necks whilst Pascoe Vale are already too far ahead to be caught. The match mirrored the way in which the teams where positioned coming into this round with Pascoe Vale already crowned as champions Balwyn where fighting to keep a grip on second spot.

The first half was tightly fought in every aspect but the scoreboard as Balwyn took all the chances in front of goal where Pascoe Vale where unable to find the back of the net. Both teams had equal chances throughout the half with Balwyn coming out on top at half time three goals to none as they finished clinically to keep the newly crowned league champions at bay.

The second half was similar to the first half with Pascoe Vale coming out firing early but remained unable to breakthrough with a goal. All the while Balwyn continued to put scores on the board. The second half was a much more physical contest than the first with both teams tackling hard and keeping the pressure on each other. After the wayward shooting from Pascoe Vale they finally managed tho find the back of the net through their captain Andre Caro. This seemed to spark some life into what had been a fairly flat performance from Pascoe Vale and they began to put some serious pressure on Balwyn scoring another goal directly after the first to put the scores at five goals to two. Balwyn responded well to this challenge showing a great deal of class to score another two quick goals and put the game to bed.

Following the win Balwyn goes five points clear of Hume and six clear of Brunswick, whilst Pascoe Vale remains on top of the table.
