Recap
In a tight first up contest at Brunswick tonight, Hume has upset a tough Balwyn side. The contest was locked at one all at half time after both teams managed to find the back of the net in the first half. The game was end to end with both goal keepers putting on shows of their abilities and both teams defensive efforts proving hard to crack. After a late time out Balwyn began to find a lot more possession and worked to put pressure on the Hume defence.
The second half started as the first finished with both teams locked in a tense arm wrestle. Both teams unable to break down each others defence and both goal keepers working hard to keep their teams chances alive. It took some quality build up finishing with a Ahmed Azzam goal to see Hume break the deadlock. The game began to change after this with Balwyn doubling their efforts for the equalising goal. This proved to be their downfall as the attacking play resulted in an opening for Nejdett Sahin and he found the back of the net for the second time for the night sealing the win for Balwyn.
With this win Hume worked to make some ground on the second placed Balwyn and kept their hopes of breaking into the elusive top two alive. Balwyn fought hard but will be disappointed with the loss. Next week Hume will hope to keep their winning ways going in a match against Metropolitan and Balwyn will hope to get back on the winners list against Ashburton.
