Following the fiery clash in the Futsal Oz cup at the end of last season this matched looked like it would be another heated encounter. Both teams will be looking to do big things in the 2016/2017 season and a win here was crucial if that was to happen.

The game was full of fire from the first minute with strong tackles and fast paced futsal being displayed by both teams. Hume scored early and held a one goal advantage for most of the half. Despite this Balwyn fought hard and managed a late goal to go into the break even with their opponents.

The aggression continued through the second half with great fast paced futsal keeping the new grand stand pumping. It wasn’t until late in the half that any further score was put on the board. A late attack from Hume saw them cut through the Balwyn defence like a hot knife through butter with Hume live wire Moe Matar finishing neatly into the top of the net. This proved to be the killer blow and gave Hume the win.

For Hume a win here means starting the season on the right side of three points and with pressure firmly on last season’s champions Pascoe Vale to manage a win against Ashburton. For Balwyn it was not the result that they wanted but was a great effort so they will go into next weeks game with confidence.
