Recap
The rivalry between Fitzroy and Pascoe Vale stretches back to the early days of Futsal Oz. Both teams have had steaks in the top league and both teams have battled it out for the title many times.
The first half was a Fitzroy domination as they unveiled their new recruit Rico Zulkarnain who was putting on a show for the packed stands at the Thomastown stadium. In the first half alone Rico managed to score three goals each one for impressive than the last. But his skills where not admired by all as he had multiple run ins with Pascoe Vale captain Andre Caro who clearly wasn’t too happy with Rico strutting around his court. Fitzroy went into half time with a comfortable three goals to one lead.
Fitzroy came out again in good form in the second half again with Rico leading the way. They where passing through the Pascoe Vale defence with ease but where unable to score. After a time out at the tenth minute of the half Pascoe Vale came out firing. Finding a quick goal through Lucas Vaz and only trailing by a single goal last seasons champions began to play with some confidence and swagger. This was the case for most of the remainder of the half but Pascoe Vale was unable to score and equalize. That was until the final 20 seconds when Caro scored a vintage goal to equalize.
Following the equalizer the game was to be settled by penalties. The teams went goal for goal in the shoot out until Pascoe Vale goal keeper Felipe Bley blocked a shot from Zulkarnain to give Pascoe Vale the win.
