Recap
Brunswick has played the two top teams of the league in their last two matches and failed to win either, they will be hoping to buck this trend against another good side; Balwyn who are on a winning streak with three straight wins coming into this game.
Brunswick started the game with high intensity, playing like a team desperate not to lose three games in a row, scoring the first two goals of the game and taking control of what was always going to be close game between the third and fourth placed teams in the league. Number 11 was involved in everything good that Brunswick was doing, playing a part in the first two goals. Balwyn hit back with a goal from Daniel Cappellaro but Brunswick had the answers to all of Balwyn’s questions, twice restoring its two goal advantage ending the first half in front four goals to two.
Brunswick continued their fine form in the second half with a press that Balwyn struggled to break. As the half wore on Balwyn’s frustrations began to grow and soon led to a free kick which was converted into a goal. The Brunswick press continued and Balwyn was unable to score. Eventually the call was made by Balwyn to send captain Michele Giotta on as a fifth man. This proved unsuccessful like Balwyn had been all game. The fifth man led to only one Balwyn goal which was easily answered by Brunswick with a goal of their own. As the final buzzer rang Brunswick remained in the lead and ran out winners seven goals to four.
