Recap
Fitzroy has just gotten over the line against a Metropolitan side that pushed them all the way to the finish line after coming off the high of beating the champions Pascoe Vale last week.
Fernando De Moreas picked up where he left off last week, wowing a packed grandstand with an assist and a free-kick goal in the first half.
Both teams took the lead in the opening period but it was all square at two goals a piece going into the break.
Metro regained the lead in the second half, but Fitzroy fought back, with their attacking prowess making up for a dreadful goalkeeping error by their goalkeeper Michael Chami.
Fitzroy held on for a win after a fiery game that saw Metro’s manager sent to the stands.
