FC Balwyn have stunned title-challengers Fitzroy FC, beating them convincingly and massively denting their title ambitions.

The Balwyn Blues started the game with immense intensity as they hunted down the Fitzroy Tigers from the first minute of the game.

The Blues took a two-one lead into the half-time break and they continued to hunt the Tigers down in the second half, resisting an extended period of attacking pressure from Fitzroy.

Balwyn extended their lead and when Fitzroy decided to deploy the fifth-man tactic, Balwyn scored three more goals into Fitzroy’s wide open goal.

The loss means that Fitzroy can end the round six points adrift of Carlton if the ladder leaders win their match against Brunswick.
