Recap
Next up saw the title race take centre stage with Western Wolves taking on Pascoe Vale. A win for the Wolves would put them top of the league with just one game of the season remaining and would pile the pressure on Carlton. A tight first half saw the pair trade blows with both sides putting three goals each on the board to go into the halftime break locked at 3-3.
Early in the second half Western Wolves took the lead through their mercurial Frenchman Sofiane Soufi as they thought that would be the bow to break Pascoe’s back. Pascoe struck back through Stefan Ristic to again go on level terms and put immense pressure on the Wolves. It wasn’t to be though as a long throw from Soufi saw Nathan Long head them into the lead before an own goal put the game beyond doubt. With the last kick of the game Tiema Coulibably added some polish to the result and put the Wolves top of the league and a defeat to Carlton against Hume would hand the Wolves the title.
